Day 2: Crossing into Canada
We all slept pretty well this first night in the motorhome which was a pleasant surprise.Rob started off the morning with a run while Nicholas spent some time throwing frisbees and Cooper and Kelly played catch. Once on the road we gave a shoutout to Mandy as we passed through the small town of Tonasket that she grew up in. Shortly after Rob drove us through the Canadian border, where we had no wait and were only asked if we had firearms.
First tourist stop was the spotted lakes, a sacred site for the Okanagan Syilx. As the summer progresses, the lake evaporates, revealing multiple colors of various mineral-rich pools.

Departing the area required a tight U-turn, which can be an adventure at 55′ long.
The other planned stop for the day was ice cream at the famous Tickleberry’s. The scoops were ridiculously large, and we were all impressed with our flavors: Cooper had chocolate peanut butter cup (his favorite), triple chocolate brownie and chocolate something else. Nicholas had “Blueberry Bliss” which had white chocolate chunks with cranberries inside. Rob had “Lime in the Coconut”, which tastes like it sounds. Kelly had Carmel Cookie Crunch.

The drive to and following the ice cream shop was beautiful, passing through cherry and apple orchards , vineyards, and wineries. This inspired us to find a fruit stand where we bought a berry pie. Now, we are planning to find a U-pick cherry farm tomorrow when we are in the tow car (much easier to park).
The day ended with walks and bike rides around the fantastic Bear Creek Provincial Park campground that Rob found and our first S’mores campfire of the trip.
