Day 48: The Flume and a Slow Afternoon
Rob was up early and knocked out a five mile run before the rest of the crew woke up. We are staying nestled in the mountains next to a lake. It doesn’t get much better than this.

We started the morning with the Flume Gorge Hike. It was very impressive, and we couldn’t get over what it must have been like for those who first discovered it after being surrounded by the woods in all directions.

There was a very narrow “wolf den” through the rocks that we all managed to wiggle through.

Once back from the gorge we ate lunch and then Rob needed to do some work. The boys and Kelly opted to relax on the back bed together. In the boys’ eyes the most magical thing happened. Kelly fell asleep, meaning with silence they could have unlimited screen time researching yachts (Cooper) and electric bikes and airplanes (Nicholas). The kids spent so much time in bed reading today that we are pretty sure they got bedsores. Nicholas’ happy reading place is in the front seat and, Cooper’s is on the back bed.

Kelly and the boys did head over to the lake for some frisbee and football before coming back again for more reading time. It was a super chill day and exactly what everyone needed.
