Day 60: Niagara Falls

Journey Behind the Falls was our first stop of the day, where we met up with another baseball family who had already explored the area yesterday. The skies were blue, but in a moment’s notice the winds would shift and you would get soaked from the waterfall spray. Not sure what we were expecting, but being behind the falls was like looking at a white wall.

We had many more hours to kill before Rob was done working, so we did power station tour. This 25 hz system ran for over 101 years and was decommissioned in the early 2000s. In 2022 they converted the old water tunnel that brought the water back below the falls to a walking path with a viewing area that was super cool. Nikola Tesla played a big role in designing this facility, and they had a big Tesla coil hanging from the ceiling that they used to play songs, a highlight for the boys. While Cooper and Kelly finished up, Nicholas found entertainment with his poncho and the large overhead fans.

Next we took the glass elevator down the side of the turbine to the water tunnel path. They had audio info stops along the way, and the view at the end was spectacular.

After the tour we headed along the path by the falls meet Rob.

Once we were all together, we decided to walk over the Rainbow Bridge to check out the American side of the falls and take the boat tour, but not before stopping on the bridge with one foot in each country.

The boat tour was hilarious; it was all dry and fine until it felt like we were under a hose. One of us tightened up the hood and she stayed completely dry; the other three, not so much.

We then walked across the border, then back to the car and back to the RV park.
