Day 56: Final Games of the First Round
Today is another two baseball game day for Cooper and the final of his first five games to determine their seed for the tournament play on Friday. The morning started off perfectly as Nicholas was finally able to catch a ride on a golf cart to the field. Rob walked and then helped prep all the fan chairs, wet from humidity, not rain. There is a “no outside food” policy at the park, but you have to hydrate and feed the kids at games so Rob took one for the team walking our hidden supplies into the ballpark while we took the cart. They also have ZERO water fill stations or access to water in the entire property except for in the dugouts, so each team pretty much has to smuggle in drinks for coolers in their bunkhouses.

Nicholas filled his time during the game with more pin trading and catching foul balls. When you turn in a foul ball back to the park you get a token, and after 5 tokens you get a special pin. There are 5 pins in all you can collect for foul balls, some take 10 balls to earn so after 35 balls turned in you could have a complete set. Nicholas gave his foul balls to the other siblings to help them out.

Before the second game, Kelly and Nicholas headed to town to pick up some pastries for the team party tonight. During the second game, Rob worked and went for a short run.

Cooper’s team did fantastic again and ended up winning both games, making them 5-0 so far.

A few of the other families are staying together in a house, and after the game they invited the entire team over for some team bonding. Nicholas loved the mini arcade room, and Cooper loved the pool table along with hanging out with friends. These incredibly kind families let us use their dishwasher and laundry, a very special treat for us on this road trip.
