Day 52: Lake George
Taking advantage of the weekend, we headed out to check out the town of Lake George at the south end of the lake of the same name. Lake George (the lake) is three miles wide at the widest spot and 32 miles long. It was quite warm outside, so after watching some parasailing and steam boats and walking through a handful of tacky t-shirt shops, we grabbed some ice cream and then headed back to the RV park.

Nicholas still has an eye for the hot dog hat after all of these years (compare to eight years ago).

The tomatoes in this area are supposed to be amazing, and Rob spotted a roadside stand, so we picked up two soft, softball-sized ones. Rob enjoyed a tomato and mayonnaise sandwich for lunch. Being the sole tomato eater in the family, he had a lot to eat, but enjoyed it. Fun fact: Two things Kelly dislikes are tomatoes and mayonnaise, so this sandwich combo is crazy.

We are loving all the campground activities. We played family shuffleboard and pickleball before heading to the pool to cool off in this 90 degree weather.

Here’s some more insight into our differing personalities. Kelly packs up or locks up everything to ensure we don’t lose stuff that would be a pain to replace (swimsuits, camping chairs, bikes, etc.). Rob thinks everything would be fine if left out. Well, Rob left out the Starlink, which he had plugged into an adjacent site with a better view of the sky. In the morning, it was gone. After a few moments of panic, Rob noticed that the person staying in the adjacent site thought that the last people to stay at that site had left it, so he was going to turn it into the office. Kelly will keep taking the lock-it-up approach.
This evening we dug out Cooper’s baseball items that we had packed up at home seven weeks ago to get him ready for his baseball tournament in Cooperstown. Missing from his baseball bags were both pairs of his very specific, required baseball pants. Some more panic, as we discovered Amazon couldn’t deliver them in time and the local sporting good store down the street didn’t have any. After a few deep breaths, SO much luck, and some amazing friends, we had a solution. The last teammate to travel to Cooperstown was flying out on a redeye two hours later. Our friend Casey left her house mid-dinner to go search through our house to see where we may have left them. Over a FaceTime call, we found them nicely put away in Cooper’s dressar drawer–whoops. She then hand delivered them to BJ and JJ before they left for their flight. BJ kindly found room in his luggage for this rather large last-minute request. Getting the “package delivered” text from Casey was the best!

After more than enough excitement for one day, we were off to bed.
OMG that is some stress about the pants!!! Glad you have amazing friends and teammates in your corner!
