Day 41: Farthest from Home

Today’s drive was a bit longer and spendier than the Google Maps directions, but oh so worth the time and tolls. It was a smooth four-hour drive day to Bar Harbor, Maine, the farthest we’ll be from home on this trip. We stopped at a random elementary school so Rob could take some work calls, so the rest of us hit the baseball field for some throwing reps and to get the wiggles out.

The boys have enjoyed reading the blog posts from the trip so far. Usually they get 30 minutes of screen time (100% spent doing Brawl Stars) for every 1.5 hours of driving, but today they got some bonus time to read the blog.

Once we reached the campground (Bar Harbor Campground), we got set-up quickly before Rob had another four-hour block of calls and Kelly and the boys headed to the pool. Four hours of pool time went fast between “King of the Hill” on the campground floating mattress, treading water, bobbing, and relaxing.

Dinner was outside with the mat and bug tent out. Knowing we’re here for six nights lets us set up for a longer stay, which feels great. Cooper was really excited to tuck in the seatbelts on the couch and dinette to get them out of the way. We finally finished off those giant Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups from Hershey’s Chocolate World and played Codenames as a family.

It was a great day, but we took only only one picture all day, so you’ll just have to believe us.
