Day 9: Lake Itasca Biking and the not-so-Mighty Mississippi

Crazy storms kept most of us up much of the night. We really felt bad for those in tents with all the rain, thunder, and lightning.

Took a bit to get going in the morning, but we biked 19 miles around Lake Itasca which was really hilly, with 750+ ft of total elevation gain. Nicholas led the way nearly the whole time, and that kid never stopped pedaling, even on the downhills.

We celebrated with more large ice creams and waded through the Mississippi headwaters.

Dinner was hot dogs over a fire (so much wiener talk) followed by showers for all. We are all pretty wiped from the day.

This evening the camp host came by and told us there was a thunderstorm watch, so we packed up everything outside as a precaution.
