Day 22: Arrived in Nashville

Today we left Illinois and arrived in Nashville, Tennessee via Kentucky.

A gas stop was about all we did in Kentucky, but we were also privileged to see how freeways are built. Rob was the lucky driver to get to spend SO many miles driving on a single lane on the wrong side of the road thanks to this construction, but we did get to see the inner supports of a freeway being paved so we will call it a win.

Welcome to Tennessee, our state for the next week

Rob found us a great campground in Nashville: Two Rivers Campground. We were very close to the Grand Ole Opry and had great freeway access.

Arriving at Two Rivers Campground, where we saw zero rivers.

Once we set up, we thought we should hit the town to see what a Saturday night looks like in Nashville. We parked near the music row and walked a mile to dinner.

Someone had lots of energy after so much time in the car, even with a full backpack.

We did some research and decided Jack’s Bar-B-Que was where we wanted to try some good Tennessee BBQ. We enjoyed some delicious pork shoulder and even some brisket. Our family is split 50/50 on which is our favorite, with Nicholas and Rob picking the pork.

With full bellies we were ready for the mile walk back to catch some country music. We headed down “Music Row” to hear some live music. Turns out Music Row is where all the recording studios are and not the live music. We shortly headed back to the campsite and called it a night.
