Day 20: Missouri and Kansas

Today we hit Missouri and Kansas.

Missouri welcomes us
A highlight in Missouri was seeing all of these windmill blades.
Entering Kansas

We didn’t really need to go through Kansas, but it was so close to our route, we had to stop so we could check it off our list. This took the form of a rest stop picnic lunch, where the kids also saw their first “trucker bomb” (pee bottle). So much opportunity for random life lessons on this trip.

We haven’t documented it much, but it has been fun to see a variety of stadiums from the highway during our multi state adventure.

Another highlight of the day for us on this leg of the trip was seeing these huge tires on a semi. A close second was being surrounded by colorful fields of soybeans, since we love our tofu and edamame! Seeing them both together at the same time made it extra special.

Our gas and grocery stop today was at a Costco again. We thought it would be fun to show just how much food we can get in our fridge. All of the boys eat so much that we go through nearly all of this in a week, so it is nice to pick up our familiar Costco staples when we can.

We ended the evening at the lovely Lazy Day Campground in Danville, Missouri. It would have been nice to stay a while, but unfortunately, we had reservations elsewhere the next night and had only enough time to do dinner, bedtime, and a bunch of laundry. It was a reminder that it may be a good idea to slow down a bit.
