Day 73: Final Beach Day

This was our last full day near the beach. Rob and I each got out for a morning run, including some miles in the sand. The boys and I then did some bike riding around the campground before the morning calls started.

As our last booked campsite and last time in the salt water, I took full advantage of the full hookups today, cleaning everything “beachy” and mopping the floor. That, combined with some evening laundry, gave us a fresh start for the next leg of the trip.

This afternoon the boys came up with their own compromise. Nicholas really wanted to spend the time in the pool and Cooper at the beach. They agreed on 30 minutes at the pool followed by an hour at the beach. The pool was all about the inflatable rings: jumping in them, bumper boats, and lounging in them.

The beach time meant more road building. They built a national park including four wildlife loops, using reeds to make roadblocks. The process was to first stomp around the smooth sand, then smooth and rake an elaborate road system. When it was time to leave the beach, there was a final vehicle tour of the roads and then the full destruction dance where they remove all signs of their national park.
