Day 64: Central Florida Hurricane Watch
Today was Saturday, which often means a super yummy breakfast. Rob didn’t disappoint this morning, making us French toast for the first time on this trip. The boys, in turn, made French toast/fried egg sandwiches.
We followed up breakfast with a scooter ride, taking advantage of the fully paved roads and sites. We loved not having to unload and reload the bikes by having them riding the scooters instead.
Turtle Beach Campground, on Siesta Key, was our stopping point. The weather wasn’t amazing, but Rob braved the water with the boys while I took pictures from the much warmer sand.
Everything here is covered with shells including the campground parking spots and even in the sidewalk pavement.
We warmed up after the beach with some Saturday college football. Always trying to get us outside to experience an area, we rallied the troops to go check out Siesta Key. While on the drive the skies opened up and it started pouring. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a quick rain like we were used to. We drove the streets of town and then opted to stop at a restaurant with outdoor seating that wasn’t very crowded. The kids were excited to mark restaurant #3 on our count for this road-trip, and they also walked away with another frisbee from their kids meals.
Rob and I spent the evening strategizing our weekend plan. Tropical Storm, Eta is what had been causing us this crazy weather lately, and it looked like it could be really windy as early as Monday.
