Day 6: Moving on from Glacier

Fried egg master Cooper in action

The boys are obsessed with eating fried eggs, and we have lucked out because Cooper is also obsessed with making them. We are trying to make it a treat when we have hookups (ample water for cleaning the pan) and time in the morning’s agenda.

Afternoon school call stop with a view

We left Glacier in the early afternoon, after Rob finished up an important meeting, since the campsite wifi was excellent. We then stopped along the side of the road for the boys to finish up their end of day calls since the cell phone coverage was spotty on the route we took. Rob later looked up that a different route, only 15 minutes longer, would have had coverage nearly the whole way. Oops, now we know to check that too. In any case, it’s nice to stop for video calls to get a break from the noise and vibration of the motorhome.

Today’s drive through Montana was beautiful

The plan for this evening was to stay at the Tri-County Fairgrounds ($15 with electric) in Deer Lodge, MT. When we arrived we were not able to easily see an unlocked access gate, so we opted to stay across the street in a gravel parking lot for free. We have a generator if we needed it and wouldn’t need to use the air conditioner, so the lack of electric was no big deal. It was fun to hearing the mooing of the cows as we were going to sleep.
