Day 53: Cooper in Cooperstown!
Today is the start of the event that triggered this wild 10-week adventure across the country and back. After 2+ hours of driving on smaller roads, we made it to Cooperstown for Cooper’s weeklong baseball tournament. Have we mentioned enough how much we have really enjoyed the opportunity to get to see the country in this way?

Today Nicholas and Kelly brought Cooper to his bunkhouse and helped him get settled in with his 13 teammates and four coaches, all of whom will share this space for the next six nights. This was also the only opportunity for families to see the bunkhouses. There are 1,300 12 and 13 year olds here this week for the tournament, and this is the 14th week of Cooperstown tournaments this summer. Fun fact: The Cooperstown population is 1,800 people, so 1,300 kids and all of their families each week for 14 weeks has quite the impact on the town.

Meanwhile, Rob managed to level and set-up the RV solo. His creativity and problem solving is top notch! He put his phone outside on video which he then watched on his laptop inside to know when he was up on the blocks.

These bunkhouses recently added A/C, but it was still so warm on this 90 degree day, especially with all the players and their families packed in. We’re hoping it gets cooler in the evening, with fewer people in there.

The main activity after settling in was trading pins. Nicholas brought a set of 20 pins to trade and really enjoyed trading with the other players.

Cooper looked quite dapper in his Cooperstown jersey. They were taking team pictures at 5pm and then heading to dinner, so we opted to head back to the RV then.

This will be a unique week, with just three of us in the RV. There are many baseball families in this campground, and Nicholas was even able to trade pins with a couple of kids at the campsite. It will be fun to be settled into one place with so many kids to play with when we aren’t watching baseball games.
