Day 39: No Rumbling Today!

Yes, it has taken 39 total days and about 20 driving days for Kelly to have a drive day where she doesn’t hit the rumble strips on the road at least one time. To be fair, on many of the roads the rumble strips go into the lane or at least align with the lines, so any big truck passing can easily shift us over. Needless to say, today it finally happened, and we celebrated checking that box.

There are always interesting things to see on our drives. Usually we don’t get a picture, but Rob was all over capturing this low flying plane, an Antonov An-124, landing at Pease (which apparently was renamed “Portsmouth International Airport at Pease” since Rob used to fly there).

Rob worked a 12-hour day, which fortunately in addition to being long was also productive for him. Kelly and the boys started with a 2.5 hour drive to get us to the Silver Springs Campground in Saco, Maine. Upon arrival, it was a “chore” kind of day with laundry and dishes, but also some pool time, whiffle ball, and biking.

This evening we unlocked a new parenting level when we told the kids to go play with fire while we finished up chores/working. They loved every second of it. Cooper especially loves using a hatchet and Nicholas loves heating the end of the stick to use it like a sparkler.
