Day 36: Boston Bound
So long, NYC!

Rob took one for the team and drove us out of New York before starting his work day.
The PEZ factory was only a small detour off our route, so we stopped there to check out the visitor center. It was neat to see so many of the PEZ dispensers from over the years, but the view of the factory gave us a small glimpse of the packaging process, with the actual candy making hidden in the back. They had a scavenger hunt throughout the visitor center, with a reward of a PEZ dispenser for completing it. As we all love a good game, this was a hit.

Kelly’s four hours of driving also included a stop to dump our tanks in advance of three nights of boondocking in our friends’ driveway. There don’t seem to be any public dump stations anywhere in New England, so we paind $25 to dump at a KOA along the route.
The last stop was for gas in a new state, which is quickly becoming a tradition (Rhode Island today). We hit some thunderstorms around Providence that slowed us down, but never stopped us.

Our campsite for the next three nights is at Rob’s college friends Mimi and Eric’s house in Sudbury, Massachusetts. They were incredible hosts tonight, feeding us dinner on top of the gaggle of teenage boys they already had over for their kids 13th birthday slumber party. It was really great catching up.
