Day 10: Kayaking Day

Luckily the thunderstorms ended up going south of us, so we only had a little rain overnight.

Taking advantage of another weekend day, we decided to break out the inflatable kayaks! They take up a bunch of space in the RV, and they take some time to set up, but we always find it’s worth it. Today we walked them down to a little launch in our campground on Lake Itasca for a few hours of kayaking (and some swimming for all three boys).

We came home for lunch, then headed out to do a three-mile hike to the Aiton Fire Tower, the top of which sits about 100′ off the ground. The views were pretty nice.

As we wrapped up the evening at the campsite, a Painted Turtle paid us a little visit. We then enjoyed even more s’mores and got everything packed up to leave.

It has been so nice to be in one spot for three nights. We feel like we really got to experience this park, but we’re also very much looking forward to full hook-ups and laundry at our next camping spot, starting tomorrow.
