Day 28: Tahiti: Kayaks and Caves
We started the morning with more kayaking snorkel adventures. This time in the deep water before the reef I saw a ray swimming. It was incredible, but alas I was in the kayak solo, and it was gone before I could share it with the others.
We headed back a little sooner today. After lunch we went to see some caves nearby. It was just a mile down the road and cool to see such a variety of plants around the caves. The biggest one was 100ft wide, 250ft deep and 30 ft tall. After that, everyone felt like doing some relaxing the rest of the day.
Cooper and I decided to head back out for another kayak adventure and left Rob and Nicholas to a marathon round of Monopoly Deal. On the way back from the reefs, Cooper decided he needed to be towed in the entire way.
Rob has been rocking driving the manual transmission car. The boys even said we would be perfect for the show Amazing Race because that is the piece that seems to hang up so many teams. Rob also excels at navigation, so if we were to ever going to be Amazing Racers, I would definitely have to pick up one of these two skills in advance. They are both life skills that I can always improve upon either way.
We had wanted to try some local food for dinner, but the boys both really wanted McDonald’s, so we decided to take a trip into town to check out what a French McDonalds was all about. I did attempt to order for everyone else in French. Rob had a Royale with Cheese
Town was mostly closed, and we weren’t sure we missed out on much by staying south of town, but it was good to see it anyway.
On the way home, Rob and I stopped at a local food truck and had some very delicious food.
We also received an email confirming we actually had seats on Frenchbee for the following morning, so we’re hopeful that tomorrow we will be on a flight out of here. Rob and I got the boys to bed and then packed up everything in preparation for our 4:30 a.m. departure to the airport.
