Day 6: Auckland: Sugar and Soccer
Today, we did a tour of Chelsea Bay, the main sugar making company in New Zealand. They get raw sugar shipped in on cargo ships from Australia and then do all the processing onsite. The highlight of the tour was seeing the 30,000 ton mountain of raw sugar they clean and process to turn into white sugar, raw sugar, brown sugar, powdered sugar and syrups every 5 weeks.
Cooper and Nicholas have been looking forward to playing soccer on Glover Field since we heard about it. This field is located inside a volcano crater. Elliott joined us for family soccer, and I must say Rob and I did pretty well vs. the trio of kids.
They even paint a track around the outside of the field within the crater
