Day 84: A Warm Black Friday
On Black Friday, my mom traditionally leads the charge on shopping plans and getting up early to shop. With COVID this year, we didn’t head out for any shopping, and in fact I bought nothing today–not even online. I have a goal to buy from small businesses this year and will have to get creative since we won’t be home until mid-December.
Nene kicked off the morning with one of her famous scavenger hunts. Nicolas followed that with squirting the cactuses with water, another favorite activity at her house.
While the boys continued their Lego and Domino fun at Nene’s, Rob and I headed out for a day date. We went to the hardware store to pick up a vent insulator to help keep the RV temperatures up at our next stop, where the temperatures are forecasted to dip into the teens at night. Then we headed to the car wash to get all the dirt and grime off the car and vacuum out the sand. We were thrilled that the car started after the car wash, unlike when we were in St. Augustine.
Rob then took the boys on a boy date to get some oil to help our crazy rusty bike chains and a snack at Wing Stop. While they were gone, I did some trip planning (during the day time for once). I’m finding I am so tired at night that planning keeps getting pushed out until the night before I need ideas.
That night we left Rob at home to get some work done while the rest of us went to check out a drive-through light display. The kids loved hanging out the sunroof and listening to all the Christmas music. We got a bonus 25 minutes in line when the car a few in front of us died. An extreme example of picking the wrong line.
