Day 56: Moving to Curry Hammock State Park
Started the morning with the kids favorite: Rob’s fried eggs. We enjoyed the pool one more time before moving to our new campsite, just three miles down the road.
We learned that it pays to read the campground info before parking the RV. We had pulled into our spot head-first, for an ocean view out the front window. A couple hours later, the camp host knocked on our door to tell us the campground was “back-in only.” I’m guessing they do that so people wouldn’t back into people or other vehicles when backing out of a space.
Of course they knocked on the door right when we were running through the sprinkler winterizing process with someone onsite back home, so we quickly went from doing nothing to doing two things at once.
Rob was the champ repair person again, fixing our city water hose attachment. It had cracked and was spraying water everywhere a few days back, so we had been filling our freshwater tank and using our pump instead of connecting directly to the water line. Fortunately, he has us up and going again.
After school the boys hit the beach for snorkel time. It felt like we were in our old saltwater aquarium. We saw hermit crabs, snails, crabs, iguana, lizards, and lots of fish. The water was super shallow so it was almost easier to see everything just walking along vs. using snorkel gear, but don’t try to tell the boys that.
After chicken fajitas for dinner, we ended the evening starting another Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie .
So great! I’ve been thinking about you guys a lot with the election craziness and you guys being in the South and the nutty weather with the hurricanes, glad to see you are still out having a good time. It’s been in the 70s here and beautiful as well although really missing out on the water! More posts soon?!
