Day 53: Florida Keys

Today we left the Everglades for the keys. Our campground had some crazy speed bumps that bottomed out the bike rack, so we had to reconnect the car once we got past those. The process is quick with so many helpers!

We arrived at our campground at Bahia Honda State Park a little too early to check in, so we had to wait by the marina. While waiting we, put up some Halloween decorations to help make the holidays feel a little more normal. We then took a quick stroll to check out the beach.

A small slice of paradise here

The kids skipped school the day before, so they needed to get caught up. Cooper thrived and was very self motivated. For Nicholas, we are realizing that he needs more parent involvement, so we are going to try a few days without his headset so I can hear what is happening and help guide him better. It makes sense, as it’s asking a lot for a 6-year-old to know everything going on in the classroom, with so many distractions and a desire to just be done and move on to more fun things.

We ended the evening on a high, with dinner outside at our campsite, which was right on the water. We followed that with a family walk to the two beaches here by moonlight. During the walk we saw four satellites at one time in the sky and a small crab walking in the middle of the street.
