Day 35: An Up and Down Day

The only publicly-accessible lighthouse in South Carolina was just a few minutes away from our campsite, so we had to check it out. During the quick walk from the car to the lighthouse, we learned the mosquitoes are ruthless here, so we had to bug spray all four of us while doing a crazy dance to keep the bites to a minimum.

The trip up to the top was very informative, with a little info sign at each landing showing how far you had climbed and some interesting facts about the lighthouse. This one was built to be movable, so the sides are constructed of interlocking steel plates. The staircase was made of iron so that it could withstand hurricane winds.

There were 174 steps to the top via a spiral staircase that got narrower as you climbed higher. The views at the top were beautiful. After climbing back down, Cooper decided he wanted to do it again so the two of us went back up for a second look around.

We then headed back to the RV for our day of work and school.

It ended up being a true Friday: lack of motivation from the week made for a really hard push to get the school work in before the deadline. This meant no beach time this afternoon, but hopefully more motivation to stay focused earlier in the week going forward.

We ended the night with some grooming. I gave all 3 guys haircuts and we cut some neglected finger and toe nails. The crew is looking clean and sharp once again.
